Feel like a change?

  • If you have a disability this is a chance to have a short break and to do new activities and meet new people

A change is as good as a rest

"Short Breaks" is a scheme for children and young people who have a disability. It's a chance for you to spend time away from your usual carers. This could be just for a day, overnight or for a weekend.

The "Short Breaks" foster carers are skilled in caring for children with a wide range of disability and will provide activities and a high level of care based within their own home.

If you are disabled, this could be a great opportunity for you to try new activities and meet new people.

Here are just a few of the comments received from parents/carers and young people about the Short Breaks Scheme:-

"Find more carers like ours as they are fantastic!"

"He is very happy to go to the carer's house; he seems to enjoy watching different TV programmes (TV is his life) and likes the company of the carers. He enjoys baking and going for walks with carers".

"Undivided attention and lots of craft play. Trips to the shop and library".

"Gets to mix with new people and have a really fun time".

"She loves going to her carer's house because it's like a second home, she gets 1:1 attention and we know she is safe and being well cared for".
