Goodbye from Virtual Head

Hello everyone,

I hope you have had an enjoyable half term. It's getting a lot lighter now in the evenings and mornings so you'll be able to find lots of great things to fill the additional hours of daylight I hope.

Those of you undertaking exams this year – please contact us if we can be of any help at all and if you would like some additional support or tuition. We also have lots of great activities set up for you so will be in touch about these soon.

I have enjoyed working with you over the last five years as the Head of your Fox Academy. However, I am now moving my job so will be leaving Leicestershire at the end of February. I would like to wish you all well in the future and reassure you that Tony Barnard and Vicki Taylor will be here to help you with your education until a permanent Virtual Head is appointed.

Take care of yourselves.

Good bye everyone.

Sally-Ann Harding.

Hello Everyone !

I hope you found the time to enjoy yourselves over the Easter holidays as the days get longer and lighter.

We know exams are around the corner for some of you, and we hope you are revising as much as you can to achieve your very best.

Here are three top tips for you to have a think about when preparing for the exams.

1. Create a revision timetable and grab yourself some helpful revision books!

2. Create revision notes and test your memory!

3. Don't panic if you feel a bit nervous. This can help you to be more focused. Don't forget to speak with the people that can help support you through your exams and if we can help at all, then let us know!

On behalf of the Virtual School Team / Fox Academy, we wish you the best of luck in your exams, and hope you can all push yourselves before you take a well-earned break over the summer.

We hope you all have a great summer term! If you have any questions, please get in touch, if we can help at all. Whatever it is, we always welcome your views, wishes, and feelings.

Thanks and take care,

Sally-Ann

Hello Everyone !

Hello Everyone !

I was so very pleased to attend the recent celebration of achievement award nights at Loughborough University in January, (check out this picture of some of your Fox Academy Education Officers enjoying the occasion) and it was absolutely fantastic to see so many of you up on stage collecting your awards for all of your achievements.

I hope those of you who were able to attend the celebration events, will take an awful lot from it, and that it may further encourage you to keep pushing yourself to achieve the very best you can.

Taking exams this year? I know some of you might be feeling a little anxious as the exam period for many is not too far away. However, try to keep focused and make use of the support that is available to you. You can contact your Education Improvement Officer directly, (the person who plays a leading role in your PEP) or you can speak to your Designated Teacher / Designated Person in school / College, (representative from the school / College who has specific responsibilities for CiC). If you are unsure who they are or what they do, please get in touch. Remember, it is better to ask than not ask!

On behalf of the Virtual School Team and from me personally, we wish you well, and hope that you try your best when for the rest of the academic year. Good Luck!

If you have any questions or you might have a query relating to your education (maybe what financial support is available to help you) then do not hesitate to get in touch … You might wish to give us some ideas around how we can improve our service or how we can improve your PEP meetings. Whatever it is, we would always welcome your views, wishes, and feelings. J

Autumn Term 2015

Hello Everyone!

I hope that you have had a good start to the new school/college term.

Your views are really important to us at the Fox Academy. Following feedback from some of you, we have updated your Pupil Views Booklets and these are already in use to support your PEP meetings this term.

Many more of you will be attending your PEPs to talk about your education plans and we would love to hear from you about how your views have made a difference to what's happening at school/college.

Thank you to those children who have sent us views about the Letter Box and Bookworm books. I am glad you love getting the books and enjoy reading them at home.

For young people in Year 8 and upwards and also at college, we have ten places left on our new business mentoring scheme which will also involve careers advice and the chance of some work experience. Please contact us or ask your social worker to let us know if you are interested in this opportunity.

Have a great term and get out and enjoy the sunshine before the clocks go back!

The Virtual School team is here to help you with all things to do with school/college. We'd love to hear from you!

Sally-Ann

Celebrating Your Achievement

Hello everyone

I hope you really enjoyed the Celebrating Achievement Events at Loughborough University. It was great to see so many of you there and to hear about all of your successes.

Thank you for your votes for the new Fox Academy logo which you have now chosen. There was a clear runaway winner and we look forward to sharing it with you here soon. This will be included on your PEPs, on the Virtual School pages on this website and our letters to you from us.

Your views and opinions about your education are really important to us. You can share these with your Designated Teacher / Person in school / college and help us to support you further by sharing them with us in your PEPs. You can also contact us through the Beacon website or by emailing us at educ.childrenincare@leics.gov.uk.

Isn't it great to see the days are getting longer and lighter and many of you will be able to spend more time outside as a break from all your school work!

Have a great term.

Sally-Ann (Virtual School Head, The Fox Academy)
